What is
Shamanic Counselling?
Shamanism is possibly the oldest spiritual path that we know on this planet;
it holds a world-view that all things are connected and everything that exists
has a living spirit.
Shamanism is a path of the heart, which helps us to connect more deeply and
fully with ourselves, with other people, nature and with spirit-helpers in
various forms.
In Shamanic Counselling we ask for help, advice, knowledge or healing through
the way of the 'shamanic journey'. This is a form of altered consciousness
into which the shamanic practitioner enters with a clear intention to ask
for support, help or healing. After receiving the requested help the person
returns this knowledge to 'ordinary reality' and integrates the teachings
into her/his life. Our Shamanic Counsellor Eva facilitates this process with
and for you.
How can Shamanic Counselling help?
Shamanic Counselling can be particularly helpful
* in times of
disorientation and when faced with big life changes, such as change of work,
relationship changes, illness, bereavement etc;
* when one feels disconnected from one's feelings and experiences loss of
energy;
* when important decisions need to be made;
* when one feels stuck in old and persisting patterns which need to be explored
and healed;
* when work around grieving and letting go is called for;
* in times of illness and other challenges;
* when a persistent feeling of loss of meaning is present;
* to prepare and mark special times and 'Rites of Passage' such as marriage,
birth of a child, recovery from long illness, important Birthdays etc
What
happens in Shamanic Counselling?
Shamanic Counselling is a collaborative process and the actual teachers are
the spirits. 'Spirits' are bundles of helpful universal energy that present
themselves to us in a form that we can understand and connect with.
Eva can journey on your behalf for advice, help or healing if you wish so, or you can learn to journey for yourself and in this way directly meet and connect with your spirit-helpers, who might introduce themselves to you in the form of animal-guides or teachers in any other form.
Eva facilitates a safe and nurturing space and help you to bring the knowledge, help or healing from the journey into your everyday life through dialogue and further exploration of the journey. She also invites you to use drawing and other art materials in the process of 'bringing the journey home', as this can be a very powerful way to give shape and form to what we encounter on a journey.
In a Shamanic
Counselling session we at first explore what it is you wish help, guidance
or healing for and then formulate together a clear intention with which to
go on a shamanic journey. In order to connect with your spirit helpers and
receive help, the person who journeys shifts consciousness slightly by the
way of 'riding on the beat of the drum'; this means listening via headphones
to a regular drum-beat for the duration of the journey (15-20 minutes), which
helps to shift consciousness slightly and hence to connect with the spirit
world.
Eva works in a way that teaches the person journeying to speak out loudly what she/he sees and hears; this is recorded and on returning to 'ordinary reality' you can listen together to the recorded journey. This is extremely helpful in order to process and bring home the often very deep teachings. You keep the tape of your journey after the session.
