About the
Clinic
We see babies and children of all ages. Paediatrics is one of oldest specialities
of Chinese
medicine and dates from the early first millennium. Since that time, there
has been
continuous development in the successful diagnosis and treatment of children's
diseases.
Our Children's
Clinic practitioner Rob Helmer, uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at
the Saturday morning clinic. TCM is the oldest and second largest medical
system in the
world today.
TCM is currently
used by 1/4 of the entire world's population in over 90 different countries.
It's non-invasive, and facilitates the body's natural ability to heal itself
by restoring
harmony and balance to the entire individual. TCM treats and assesses each
child as an
individual, thereby treating the cause of the disease instead of merely the
symptoms.
The main treatment
methods used in TCM paediatrics are Chinese Herbal Medicine and
Tuina (massage). In addition, Dietary Therapy and Acupuncture can improve
certain
childhood medical problems.
Please download
this Paediatric
Intake Form and complete before attending for your child's
first appointment.
How many clinic visits will my child need?
The total number of treatments needed varies from person to person, partly
depending on the
length and severity of the condition, partly on the general health & well-being
of the child.
Initially, the child will be monitored on a weekly basis for the first month
and then gradually
the times between visits will be lengthened to fortnightly.
