Medau What is Medau?
Developed by Hinrich Medau in Germany, this unique method of dance movement promotes the natural, rhythmic and creative freedom of movement we are born with to bring about strong but graceful movement. It stimulates and maintains the health of body and mind, developing good posture and core strength.
The characteristics of Medau movement are wholeness, rhythm, swing, resilience, stretch and all classes include the five key fitness factors: strength, stamina, suppleness, cardio-vascular stimulation and co-ordination.
A variety of
music and percussion is used to accompany and direct the style and pace of
the movement. Small apparatus such as balls, clubs, hoops and scarves are
used to enhance and give focus to movement.
